Location
Situated adjacent to Simpson Park in north Chillicothe, the Chillicothe Country Club has provided a challenging course to its members since it was established in 1923. The course is 9-hole, but has 18-tees. The yardage on the back nine changes from the front to create a challenge. The greens are USGA approved and are bent grass, and the bluegrass-grown fairways are long and tight. Seven sand traps and two ponds come into play creating a “must play” course for novice to accomplished golfers. The clubhouse and lounge are easily accessible during play as the concrete cart path passes them at three points. Private tennis courts are located at the east end by the entry. It's easy to find us... see our map below.
Golfing Facilities
The Chillicothe Country Club began as a six-hole course on land owned by the Chillicothe Fairgrounds Association. Horse barns and a racetrack lined the north end of the property, and grandstands sat close to where the current clubhouse now sits. Golfers were allowed to use the fairgrounds in trade for keeping the grounds mowed. A horse-drawn sickle mower was used to cut the fairways, and the greens were push-mowed.
The course must have been very popular among area golfers. Only one fair was held on these grounds after the golfers began to use the course. In 1921, a committee purchased the fairgrounds for $18,845. A golf pro from the Kansas City area designed a nine-hole course; this design still exists today with a few additions and alterations made over the years.

Dining Facilities
The current clubhouse was built in 1996 and provides members with two dining facilities and a full-service, elegant oak bar. Mulligan’s, the more casual dining facility, is popular at lunch and touts many sports-related memorabilia donated by members. The dining room is 2500 square feet and is ideal for elegant special events, including Valentine’s Day and New Year’s as well as wedding receptions or anniversaries. Full ladies and men’s locker rooms with lockers are also available.
